Hello
I have been doing DDPYoga every other day and yesterday I had a sharp pain in my pectoral muscle followed by general soreness. Should I take an extra day off to let the muscles rest? I would appreciate some feedback on this.
Thanks.

You might have pulled a muscle, so i would take it real easy on that body part for a few days and let it heal if it was pulled. There should not be any sharp pains with DDPYoga. If there is, something is not right and you need to re-evaluate.
Yes, I agree with Andy. If you strain something (it may happen occasionally), definitely take it easy for a few days and don't do any workouts. Don't get complacent in that mode, though, 'cause then it's tough to get back into it if you let it go too long. Also, when you do slow burn push-ups and also the cobra position, be cautious to make sure that you are not placing the majority of your body weight on that side. That's what I think I was doing, (my right arm is stronger than my left) and it strained my pec a bit, too. And if it is too difficult at first, don't quite lower all the way down into a full crocodile position when doing the push-ups during your workouts. This can put quite a strain on those chest muscles as well, especially for those who aren't used to doing push-ups regularly. Always give it your best during the workouts, but try to be aware of your body's problem areas as well when doing the various positions. I hope you find these comments helpful.
Definitely take a day or 2 off to let yourself recover Andrew. Although DDPYoga is zero impact fitness, that doesn't mean that your muscles don't sometimes need to have some rest as you build them. If after a couple days, the pain / tenderness is still there, you might consider talking to your doctor. Listen to your body above everything else, and give it a day off when it tells you it needs one.
